- William Bierman, a prosperous clothier of Litchfield,
was in Waseca part of this week visiting his mother and other relatives in this
city and county. - The shareholders and directors of the
First National Bank of Waseca held their annual meeting last Tuesday. The
directors and officers were re-elected, namely: directors, Hon. Otto Hanson, J.
E. Madden, C. P. Sommerstad, E. O. Herter, John W. Papke, William A. Henderson
and James E. Child. Officers for the ensuing year, James E. Child president, C.
P. Sommerstad vice president, Henry C. Didra cashier. The surplus was increased
to $10,000. The reports showed the bank to be in a reasonably prosperous
condition. - Edward Kelly is properly proud of an
apparatus he devised last week to automatically feed the films of the moving
picture machine at the Wasecenic theater. An electric motor is used and the
result is a far more steady-running film. - 100 years

1985/ Memorable teachers
Gilbertson influential both as a teacher and
coach, by Todd Bourassa The most memorable
teacher that I have had was Mr. Terry Gilbertson. I had
him as my sixth-grade homeroom teacher. He had a big influence on me both in and
out of the classroom. He also was my varsity football coach. In his classes I
remember him saying that if we tried our best, something good will come out of
our efforts. He also was strict with us in class. If we were talking or doing
something bad, he would find something for us to do.
Andrejewski helped students develop sense of
self, by Brian Hansen This reflection started out
when I was a freshman. The average freshman, who is not really known by the
other levels of the student body and feels as if he or she is just another
page in a useless book. One teacher gave me the
inspiration and motivation to work as a student and not be another page in a
book. He was one of the best teachers I have ever had. Most of the student body
called him "A," but he was more than just another letter of the alphabet to me,
he was a teacher. Paul Andrejewski was one of a kind, and
I hated to see him leave. He gave me the incentive and the will power to get the
job done and to get it done right and on time, too. - 25
