1985/ Memorable teachers: Hansel and Peters
Religious ed coordinator devoted to job,
by Linda Ruhland When one thinks of someone who has
offered him inspiration, he usually thinks of someone from his past; however,
that is not true in my case. The person who has been most
influential to me has only been my life for a year and a half. I feel that Mary
Hansel, religious education coordinator at Sacred Heart Church, has given me a
tremendous amount of inspiration through her devotion, intelligence, support,
and last but not least, her sense of humor. Her devotion
is shown through her many hours of hard work and constant burning of the
midnight oil. She gives her all to everything she does and accomplishes more
than is expected of her.
Peters remembered for subtle lessons, by
Tim Kanne He's not very tall, he's not very strong, and
he's surely not that good looking, yet after having him for a teacher we come
out having a deep respect and trust for him. Somehow he teaches us the very
important things, the facts of life, without us really realizing it until we
need it. This man is not only a great person, he's a great
teacher; and his name is Mr. Jurgen Peters. Ask anyone in
Waseca High, any kid at all, what they think of Mr. Peters, or as most know him,
Jurg, and they will tell you that he's a great person. He possesses this uncanny
ability to know what we need before we ask for it, and he's always willing to
help. - 25 years ago, January 31, 1985, Waseca County
