1935/ Blue and Gold Down Fairies by 25-14 Score
Many local basketball fans journeyed to Faribault last
Saturday night to watch the Waseca team turn the trick over the Faribault team.
This victory puts the greater share of the games on the winning side along with
the fact that it leaves Waseca and Northfield fans still wondering which will
win the title... Captain Russ Deputy led the local scoring
with four field goals. He was followed by Bud Carlin who had six
points. - 75 years ago, February 6, 1935,

1960/ Bluejays Drop to Fifth in Loop as St. Peter Wins in Overtime
44-43
Another thrilling "barn-burner" was witnessed by
almost a capacity crowd Friday night at the Central gym as the Waseca Bluejays
scrapped and fought gallantly before losing to St. Peter in overtime,
44-43. The lose shoved the Jays to fifth place in the
South Central conference with a 2-4 record. It also was the Jays seventh loss of
the season against four wins. - 50 years ago, February 3,

1960/ Scarlets Upset Bid Fails as Pacelli Ekes Out 44-40 Win
Friday
Sacred Heart's determined bid for a stunning upset over
highly favored Austin Pacelli failed in the waning seconds of the game Friday
night as Pacelli eked out a 44-40 Ravoux conference win.
Pacelli remained at the top of the heap in loop play with a perfect 9-0
record. The loss evened the Scarlets record at 5-5 while Coach Chuck Schneider's
crew now has a 10-6 mark for the season. - 50 years ago,

1960/ Waseca Drops Class 'A' Baseball
Waseca definitely will not field a team in Class A
baseball during the summer of 1960. This was a unanimous decision among board of
directors of the Waseca baseball Association Saturday night in a meeting held at
the VFW club rooms. Only 11 persons turned out for the
meeting, six of them local baseball directors of the past season. The meeting,
which lasted over two hours, contain mostly discussions of what Waseca would do
for baseball during this summer as well as coming years.
It didn't take long for all 11 persons to come to a decision to drop Class A
ball. Main reasons for this were lack of financial support as well as moral
support during the three years Waseca has had a team in Class A
ball. - 50 years ago, February 3, 1960, Waseca Journal
1985/ Bluejay wrestlers gain share of SCC title
The Bluejay wrestlers entered Friday night with only half
of their fate in their hands. The Jays not only needed a
win over Blue Earth to claim a share of the South Central Conference
championship, they also needed St. James to upset
Fairmont. Score a victory on both counts. While the
Bluejays were pounding Blue Earth 40-15, St. James was taking care of Fairmont
37-22. The result is the second straight SCC dual-meet title for the Jays, and
their second in three years under Coach Gary Meurer. The Bluejays are 9-3 this
season. - 25 years ago, February 5, 1985, Waseca County
