Eric D. Hoiland (43), UMW 1989 Eric D. Hoiland, 43, of Rushford, Minn. died on Saturday, February 18, 2012, at Rochester Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn. Eric was born on January 30, 1969, in Winona, Minn. to Stanley and Elizabeth (Semmen) Hoiland. Eric was raised in Rushford and graduated from Rushford High School in 1987. While in high school, Eric was active in FFA, football and wrestling. He received his Associates Degree from the University of Minnesota - Waseca, his Bachelors Degree in Agriculture from the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, and his Masters Degree in Agronomy from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. . . . Marcella Kathryn Horihan was born to Martin and Margaret (Maloney) Horihan on April 3, 1912, in Spring Grove. She grew up in the Lanesboro area and in 1931 entered the Sisters of St. Francis from St. Patrick Parish in Lanesboro. She made first vows in 1934 and perpetual vows in 1937. Sister Elise was a secondary teacher at Sacred Heart High School, Waseca (1956-1962). . . . Following Otto's death Mabel married Edwin Franson. Although he was not her biological father, Otto is who Dorothy would call her father. After moving to Waseca, Dorothy graduated from Waseca Central High School in 1936 and then attended Minneapolis Business College for two years. . . .
